HONORS AND ACHIEVEMENTS

Walt Disney Elementary has been the recipient of many Indiana school improvement awards and grants.  In 2001-2002, Walt Disney Elementary received an early literacy grant from the state of Indiana.  The school has also received state and national recognition for academic competitions including Knowledge Masters, National Social Studies Olympiad, National Geography Olympiad and National Language Arts Olympiad. 

In 2011-2012, the Walt Disney Elementary was named a reward school by the Indiana Department of Education.  This honor is given to schools showing high academic performance and growth while maintaining an accountability grade of “A.”


PARENT INVOLVEMENT

The Walt Disney PTO (Parent-Teacher Organization)  is an active and vital organization that supports parents, students, and teachers through varied programs, activities, and volunteering.  Programs sponsored by the PTO provide expanded learning opportunities and a focus on the importance of the family unit.

The PTO is a great example of P-H-M’s Triangle of Success that connects parents, teachers and students—working together to create excellence!
