Randy Williams Day in Mishawaka

Thursday May 28, was declared "Randy Williams Day" in Mishawaka. Last fall Randy Williams, principal of Walt Disney Elementary, was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma; he is now in remission and doing well. On Thursday, students, teachers, P-H-M School Corporation administrators, family and friends helped Randy celebrate life and his battle against cancer in an all-school assembly. Kate Voelker, Mishawaka's 4th District Councilwoman and Executive Director of Riverbend Cancer Services in South Bend, presented a surprised Randy with a Proclamation from Mishawaka Mayor Dave Wood. Randy, along with Assistant Principal Ryan Towner, also presented the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society with a check for $3,719.63! In support of Randy's battle, the students sold "Team Williams - Standing Strong" wristbands raising $1609.59. Students also participated in "Pennies for Patients," raising an additional $2110.04 for the cause.
