This morning, Dr. Jerry Thacker visited Walt Disney Elementary to help present the inaugural Dr. Jerry Thacker Achievement Award. The award, named in honor of Dr. Thacker’s retirement after 19 years of service as Penn-Harris-Madison’s superintendent, recognizes students who exemplify persistence, good citizenship, and positive competitiveness—qualities that Dr. Thacker has demonstrated throughout his tenure.

In its first year, the award was given to four students at Walt Disney Elementary, each of whom achieved a perfect score on the iRead assessment. Their dedication to learning and demonstration of these core values serve as an inspiration to their peers.
